Air Traffic Control

If prayer is the conscious act of opening a two-way communication channel between oneself and God, then an admonition to pray always is comparable to asking a pilot to keep the radio on for possible instructions from the tower.

State the Obvious

Keeping everyone on the same page is more important than a vague concern about accidentally talking down to someone or seeming less intelligent by repeating what people have already heard.

Do it in a way to respect the audience by sharing the narrative and the problems and the decision making process. Appeal to problem solving instead of piquing intellectual appetite.

Hassle-free internet with Easy Web

Idea for new product: Old person on the phone with a nephew getting tech support for a home pc. Trying to video chat with grandkids. Switch to same person buying a smart terminal from costco, plugging it in at home, and chatting with grandkids within minutes.

Terminal pc, wireless internet card, remote file system and sys admin... old or otherwise untechnical people with noone to maintain a pc in their home. 2011-05-12. Serve them off the cloud. Expandable storage. Variable OS. Like amazon web services but for non-technical consumers. Buy a terminal from Costco, plug it in, it does the rest. Probably should have usb/dvd/graphics and sound cards. Requires internet, comes with a wireless card or not. Portable like voip phones. Dedicated IP. Problem to solve: no IT, non-technical people who need internet/home computing. A: if you already have an internet connection. B: if you don’t. Monthly fee instead of large upfront cost. Credit card for features once they log in e.g. software licenses or more disk/mem etc. System advisor to recommend new features when usage nears current limits. Printer? Like a mac mini in size.

Advice that rhymes

Idea for body spray commercial: spray it, don't say it.

Guy chatting up girl talking about his workout, law school etc when another guy walks by and turns her head. Flash to him spraying body spray in a towel earlier.

Worst and Best-Case Scenarios

I've long felt the value in anticipating worst-case scenarios to be prepared emotionally and physically for what may come.

Only recently have I felt the balancing need for imagining best-case scenarios. Without spending time visualizing what might go well it's difficult to generate goals and direction.

Balance

Making specific goals for each day at work _and_ at home will help balance my natural tendency to latch on to one thing and run it into the ground.

Shinitude

"Luminous beings are we..."

Look past the dull cow eyes to the light people carry. It's a much better indentifier to judge against.

I'm Rudy

From the movie Rudy. I've averaged 50 hours at work each week for the past 3 months. Yesterday I worked 24 hours straight. But I have very little to show for it. I've had my one play on the field so far but mostly I've just contributed determination instead of results.

Using Religion

Indecision, Lack of Motivation and Agency

Sometimes, especially when deadlines are pressing, the best way to move forward productively is to pause and wait.

With many demands on time and ability, taking a moment to listen lets the most important issues rise to the surface.

This presents a formal decision point that allows outcomes to be achieved by conscious choice rather than outside influences.
